The Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement and Medical Supply announced that it is awaiting the arrival of the first batch of Johnson & Johnson vaccine at dawn on Monday, August 9.

The authority said that importing the vaccine is part of the plan to expand the provision of anti-Coronavirus vaccines and provide a special vaccine for travelers and all the Egyptian people.

The Ministry of Health and Population said that the vaccine will be distributed to vaccination centers in all governorates of the Republic upon its arrival.

The Ministry, through its website, called on citizens to register and reserve the Coronavirus vaccine through the

What categories should be given priority for Johnson & Johnson against COVID-19 vaccine

Priority should be given to vaccinating health workers who are highly susceptible to infection and the elderly. As the supply of COVID-19 vaccines is limited,

What other groups can be subject to vaccination with the vaccine?

The vaccine is safe and effective in people who have medical conditions that increase the risk of severe diseases, such as high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, serious heart disease, and diabetes.

People living with HIV are at greater risk of developing severe complications from COVID-19.

It is recommended that persons who are known to be infected with HIV be provided with information and advice prior to vaccination. More studies are needed to evaluate the efficacy of the vaccine in people living with HIV;

They may have a decreased immune response to the vaccine, which may reduce its effectiveness.

People who have previously had COVID-19 can be vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

However, it is recommended that these people postpone the COVID-19 vaccination for up to six months after they have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus, in order to allow people who urgently need the vaccine to get it before them.

This vaccine can be given to breastfeeding women who belong to the groups for which vaccination is recommended (eg health workers); It is not currently recommended to stop breastfeeding after vaccination.

Should pregnant women be Johnson & Johnson against COVID-19 vaccine ?

While pregnancy puts women at higher risk of severe COVID-19 disease, there is little data available to assess the safety of this vaccine in pregnancy.

A pregnant woman can be vaccinated if the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks.

For this reason, pregnant women who are at high risk of infection with SARS-CoV-2 (such as health workers)

or who have comorbidities that increase their risk of severe disease can be vaccinated after consulting their health care provider.

What groups are not recommended to be vaccinated with this vaccine?

The vaccine should not be given to people who have previously had a severe allergic reaction to any component of the vaccine.

Anyone with a body temperature of over 38.5°C should postpone the vaccination until they recover from a fever.

It is recommended not to give the vaccine to people under the age of 18 until the results of more studies for this age group are issued.

What is the recommended dose?

The SAG recommends the use of the Janssen Ad26.CoV2.S vaccine as a single dose (0.5 mL) as an intramuscular injection.

There should be an interval of at least 14 days between the time

this vaccine is given and any other vaccine against any other conditions.

This recommendation may be modified when data are available regarding the coadministration of this vaccine with other vaccines.

How does this vaccine compare to the two-dose vaccines already in use?

We cannot directly compare one vaccine with another given the different approaches to their study design

but in general, all of the vaccines included in WHO’s Emergency

Vaccine List are highly effective in preventing severe disease caused by COVID-19 and the introduction of hospitals because of it.
